The curriculum at Livingstone Academy Bournemouth will be a pioneering combination of academic achievement and a focus on 21st century skills.

Young people need both knowledge and skills in order to be successful in their chosen careers. They should be digital creators as well as digital consumers. That is why the curriculum at the Livingstone Academy will be tailored to focus on equipping students with critical skills including: creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration.

reception

In Reception, learning through play is so important.

Our Early Years spaces will be designed especially to facilitate this approach. A nurturing and supportive approach to children’s first months in a school setting is fundamentally important, and this will be made easier with there being only two classes in Reception.

Year 7 onwards

The curriculum will be designed around the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) model, as these are subjects that are critical for success in the 21st century. In addition to this, there will be a great focus on learning alongside employers and assignment-based working.
