As you approach September, we can only hope that you are as excited as we are. All teachers and tutors are ready to welcome each child and support them in their transition from primary school to Livingstone Academy Bournemouth.
In the Summer Term, we will liaise with primary schools to help ensure that the transition to secondary is as smooth as possible. This ensures that each child’s learning journey is uninterrupted, and their academic progress is uninhibited. For any child where transition is thought to cause some challenges, we will also meet with parents, students and other professionals.
All students in Year 7 will be assigned an advisory group. These advisory groups are balanced with respect to ability, gender and individual need. It is our experience that students settle quickly into their advisory groups and add new friends to their circle. In any year, there will be several students who are the only entrant from their particular primary school – please be reassured that your child will have a buddy to help them settle into school life quickly.

Transition day – Friday 30 June 2023
Livingstone Academy will hold a Transition Day on Friday 30 June 2023 for all Year 6 students. All students will have an opportunity to meet their peer group and experience an exciting and enjoyable day.
Parent Transition Workshops and tour – Friday 30 June 2023 – 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Parents are all invited to our afternoon of workshops and to tour the building. Not only will there be an opportunity to see a presentation of student successes that day, you will also be able to try on school uniform as well as attend a carousel of activities. Examples of these include a Formal Parent/Carer Welcome and meet your child’s advisor.
PARENT INFORMATION EVENING – SEPTEMBER 2023
In September, a Parent Information Evening will be held to share further information to support each student joining the school. This event also provides an early platform to discuss any specific questions or issues that have arisen with your child’s advisor. In addition to this, a parents’ consultation evening later will be held later in the academic years. This is an opportunity to meet subject teachers and discuss the progress your child is making.
